2006 - 2007
The journey had started in 2006, a very small beginning with a team of less than 10 members. The focus was mainly on developing an e-commerce portal for Akbar Group for catering the needs of their online buyers of travel services. The first product www.akbartravelsonline.com, a travel portal for B2c market was launched in 2007 January. Akbar as a consolidator has a major business share in the B2b market. So the next focus was on developing an agent portal, which was perhaps one of the first such initiatives in India. With the help of our domain expertise and the tremendous efforts taken by our dedicated team members, we were able to launch the B2b portal agents.akbartravelsonline.com by the mid of 2007.
These two products helped Akbar to gain a major share in the Online Travel Market within the first year itself. Simultaneously, the technology support requirement also increased drastically. This in turn accelerated our next phase of expansion. We moved to a new office location and doubled our staff strength by the end year 2007. Another achievement during this period was, we had started a mini data center at our new premise in order to cater the hosting needs of Akbar Group and eventually shifted the hosting of portals to there, from an US IDC where it was hosted initially. 2008 - 2009
The next major development was that of “IBOSS – Travel ERP”, which took place during 2008-09 periods. The introduction of IBOSS was a giant step, which replaced the conventional accounting package used at Akbar with a centralized one. In fact IBOSS was one of the first such initiatives in India, which brings travel agent’s back office activities in to cloud by offering software as service. Within next two years, IBOSS was implemented at all the Akbar Group companies and also we got some reputed clients like Mahindra Holidays, outside Akbar Group for IBOSS. This in fact triggered our next phase of growth and by the end of year 2011, our staff strength reached 50 number mark.
2010 - 2011
Another major achievement during 2010-11 was, strategic partnership deal signed with Travel GDS giant – ABACUS. The deal was for marketing Abacus products at four north and west states Punjab, UP, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Program 'BenzyPlus', initiated in the 4th Quarter of 2010 in which a series of advanced products and smart services were planned to target the end-to-end IT Solution for Online Travel Industry. The program was designed to produce a state-of-art of complete competency in the LoB of Akbar Group. Beta versions were launched in the last Quarter of 2011. 2012 - 2013
The year 2012 was a golden year for Benzy Infotech. On Sunday, April 8th 2012, we moved to our new office at Edappally Mythri Nagar, Kochi, which ended our long wait for own office. The new office building contains basement plus three floors with a total carpet area of 20,000 sq. ft. And it is strategically located at Edappilly, the developing business hub of Cochin. Another major attraction is a “Tier 3 Ready” data center built at the first floor of the building; the infrastructure was completely setup by IBM. 2012 was a year of glory for our product delivery team also.
We were able to launch our premium product “iBookie – a mini GDS” and revamped the B2c and B2b portals using this booking engine. This in turn helped our parent company to capture more market share and reach one among the top 3 players in the OTA segment. In 2013, we further increased our presence in India by opening two offices at Ahmedabad - Gujarat and Jalandhar - Punjab for our ABACUS GSA division. By the mid of 2013, we have grown up to a company with four offices in India and more than 100 staff. This year we are planning to open a development/support office at UAE.
